06 - How is the heat extracted and turned into energy (or hydrogen and/or heat)?

Endoria's objective is to unlock the heat contained in SuperHot Rock and convert it into continuous electricity, industrial heat and, where appropriate or required, hydrogen.

The exact subsurface configuration will depend on geological conditions and the selected project design. In a closed-loop configuration, a working fluid circulates through an engineered underground system, absorbs heat from the surrounding high-temperature rock and transfers that thermal energy to the surface.

At the surface, the heat can be used in several ways:

Electricity
High-temperature geothermal heat drives an appropriate power-conversion cycle to generate continuous electricity.

Industrial heat
Instead of converting all thermal energy into electricity, heat can be supplied directly to industrial processes where high-temperature heat is required.

Hydrogen
Continuous geothermal electricity can power electrolysers, while geothermal heat can potentially be integrated into hydrogen-production processes.

The major advantage is that the same geothermal resource can serve multiple energy applications, depending on the requirements of the industrial customer.
