17 - What is the investment opportunity?

Endoria Energy is a deep-tech startup employing a partner-integrated model to deploy Enhanced Geothermal Systems for large-scale, capital-intensive baseload energy generation in Europe, beginning in The Netherlands.

Join us! Endoria offers:

  • Financial partners: a staged investment opportunity, allowing investors to enter during a low-capital, early development phase before scaling up to fund major infrastructure once an appropriate TRL is achieved. By partnering through a joint Operations Company (OpCo) structure, Endoria combines its technical and operational expertise with the capital strength of forward-thinking, visionary investors.

  • Technical partners: the opportunity to join a challenging platform and jointly develop a revolutionary technology that contributes to a more sustainable environment.

Endoria Energy is a deep-tech energy company developing and deploying Enhanced Geothermal Systems (UDG/EGS) for large-scale, reliable energy generation in Europe. We operate as the central technology and project integrator, bringing together specialist engineering, drilling, geothermal, energy and industrial partners rather than attempting to develop every component in-house.

The investment opportunity is therefore staged. The initial development phases require comparatively limited capital and focus on engineering, technical validation, permitting, site assessment and preparation. However, these phases ultimately lead towards the construction of a full-scale geothermal power facility, a project that could require hundreds of millions of euros in capital.

This creates an unusual investment proposition: an investor can potentially enter at an early stage, when the capital requirement is still relatively modest, while retaining the opportunity to participate in the much larger project phase as the technology and business case are validated. Endoria is developing a capital-intensive, scalable energy platform. The development programme is structured in stages, allowing technical and commercial uncertainty to be reduced progressively before major infrastructure capital is deployed.

The development pathway is deliberately structured to reduce uncertainty step by step. Endoria is currently moving towards engineering studies covering, among other things, heat transfer, well design and system performance, together with technical validation involving specialist research and engineering partners. The objective is to establish the technical and commercial basis for progressing towards the first full-scale project. As described in our development roadmap, each subsequent phase requires increasing levels of capital and validation.

The long-term opportunity is particularly relevant to forward-looking private equity investors, energy companies, infrastructure investors and family-office consortia that are willing to engage with a technology at an early stage and potentially grow with it. An early investor would not necessarily have to commit hundreds of millions of euros from day one. Instead, investment could be staged alongside technical de-risking and project development, with the possibility of participating in the subsequent project financing.

From development company to project OpCo
Endoria's ambition is to establish an Operations Company (OpCo) for the first commercial project. In such a structure, Endoria would contribute its technology, project-development capabilities and operational expertise, while the investment partner or consortium provides the capital required to develop and construct the energy facility. Management and strategic decision-making would be undertaken jointly.

This creates a potentially attractive alignment: Endoria focuses on technology, engineering coordination and operations; the investment partner provides the capital and financial strength required to scale the project.

The model also allows investors with a long-term perspective to participate at different stages of the value chain — from early technology and project development through to the financing and ownership of commercial geothermal infrastructure.

Why invest at this stage?
EGS is still an emerging technology, and Endoria does not present it as a technology that is already fully mature or without remaining technical and commercial challenges. That is precisely why early participation can be relevant.

The progress made internationally provides an increasingly strong basis for further development. Fervo Energy, for example, has demonstrated commercial-scale EGS operation in Nevada and has subsequently attracted substantial institutional and strategic capital. Icelandic geothermal expertise also provides an important knowledge base for superhot and deep geothermal applications. ÍSOR, for example, has extensive international geothermal consultancy experience and has been involved in research into casing and well technologies for temperatures in the 450–550°C range.

Endoria's objective is to combine this rapidly developing body of geothermal knowledge with deep-drilling and energy-sector expertise and make advanced EGS applicable to locations where conventional geothermal resources are not readily available.

The investment opportunity is therefore not simply an investment in another energy company. It is an opportunity to participate at an early stage in the development of a potentially scalable new energy platform, with relatively limited initial capital requirements, but with the possibility of progressing towards very large infrastructure investments once the technology and business case have been sufficiently validated.

The initial investment is therefore not intended to finance the full power plant, but to finance the technical and commercial de-risking required to make the subsequent infrastructure investment financeable.

We are therefore looking for long-term, technically minded and forward-thinking investors who understand that deep-tech development requires patience, who are comfortable with the higher risks associated with an early-stage technology, and who can contribute more than capital, including industrial relationships, technical expertise, project-finance capabilities and access to future customers and strategic partners.

Endoria's ambition is to establish UDG/EGS as a new source of reliable, large-scale energy in The Netherlands, starting in the province of Zeeland and ultimately in Europe. Investors who share that vision can potentially join the journey at an early stage and grow alongside the technology, the company and its projects.
