Independent Research & Industry Validation
Commercial demand for next-generation geothermal is accelerating.
In September 2026, Google and Fervo Energy announced a 396 MW power purchase agreement for Fervo's Cape Station EGS project in Utah, with an option that could bring total contracted offtake to nearly 1 GW. More info here.

Industry validation is best demonstrated by the Fervo Project - Nevada State (USA). Data centers are among the world's most energy-intensive facilities. To meet its rapidly growing electricity demand while advancing its 24/7 carbon-free energy ambitions, Google has turned to next-generation geothermal energy.
In partnership with geothermal developer Fervo Energy, Google helped develop a first-of-its-kind enhanced geothermal project in Nevada, which became operational in 2023 and now supplies carbon-free electricity to the grid serving Google's data centers.
In 2024, Google and NV Energy announced plans to expand this approach to 115 MW of new enhanced geothermal capacity, developed by Fervo Energy. The agreement was approved in 2025.
Google's commitment is a powerful indication that advanced geothermal is moving from technological innovation towards commercial energy infrastructure.
This proofs that it is no longer driven by start-ups and governments alone: major industrial energy users are now investing in Ultra-Deep Geothermal Energy, demonstrating growing industry confidence in its potential as a clean and reliable energy source.
