21 - How is the absolute sustainability of UDG/EGS verified and aligned according to international industry standards?
Discover why Ultra-Deep Geothermal Energy (UDG/EGS) is the most promising, non-fossil, stable and low-priced baseload technology available today. Verified by strict international sustainability standards, this scalable breakthrough delivers reliable energy in the (potential) giga-Watt range at a very low cost.
UDG/EGS is the most promising and genuinely sustainable baseload energy carrier available to humanity today. This is outlined and confirmed in the Independent Research & Industry Validation-section of this website.
To prevent greenwashing and guarantee absolute transparency, our technology aligns with the highest international standards, such as the EU Taxonomy for Sustainable Activities and the strict criteria tracked by the Climate Bonds Initiative (CBI), outlined below. UDG/EGS meets these rigorous global benchmarks flawlessly by delivering unmatched advantages over traditional baseload sources:
- 100% Clean & Closed-Loop: It operates as a fully closed-loop system with zero combustion, making it virtually entirely CO₂-neutral and NOx-neutral while producing no long-term or radioactive waste.
- Minimal Spatial Footprint: It requires very limited surface infrastructure, taking up significantly less space than nuclear energy for a comparable power output.
- True Financial Certainty: It provides exceptionally competitive, long-term stable energy prices, entirely free from geopolitically sensitive raw materials.
This represents a historic breakthrough in energy production. For the very first time, it is genuinely feasible to deploy a highly stable, non-fossil-based energy source within a foreseeable timeframe and at a low cost per kWh.
Characterized by exceptional reliability, low price, full scalability, zero-feedstock & zero-waste and gigawatt-scale capacity, this technology represents a breakthrough that global consensus deems impossible to ignore. Independent analyses by premier authorities - including the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Stanford University, Bloomberg, and The Economist - collectively validate this innovation as a revolutionary cornerstone for future baseload energy. Because no other current alternative simultaneously optimizes both economic viability and ecological sustainability, there exists a profound collective obligation to aggressively research, engineer, and fully develop this solution!
USD/EGS does not compete with wind and solar energy. Instead, we complement them by supplying the continuous, 24/7/365 'always-on' baseload stability that the grid needs and that intermittent renewables cannot provide on their own.

How UDG/EGS Meets Global Sustainability Standards
Our Ultra-Deep Geothermal Energy (UDG/EGS) solutions are designed from the ground up to fully comply with the world's most rigorous sustainable finance frameworks, providing absolute verification that our technology represents a truly green investment.
We also adhere to the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHGP) methodology, an international corporate standard for GHG-emissions disclosure (with near-zero Scope 1 + 2 + 3 emissionlevels).
1. Alignment with the EU Taxonomy for Sustainable Activities
To qualify as an environmentally sustainable economic activity under the EU Taxonomy, a project must make a Substantial Contribution to climate change mitigation while adhering to the Do No Significant Harm (DNSH) principles:
- Substantial Contribution: The EU Taxonomy sets a strict Technical Screening Criterion (TSC) for electricity and heat generation, requiring lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions to remain well below 100 gCO₂e/kWh (also in line with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Because our UDG/EGS solution operates as a 100% closed-loop system with zero combustion, our operational emissions are practically zero gCO₂e/kWh, flawlessly outperforming this limit.
- Do No Significant Harm (DNSH): Our technology utilizes a closed-loop system where nothing is extracted from or released into the subsurface. This protects local water resources, prevents pollution, and avoids the long-term or radioactive waste streams associated with other baseload alternatives like nuclear energy.
2. Alignment with the Climate Bonds Initiative (CBI)
The Climate Bonds Standard is often considered even more demanding than the EU Taxonomy. It provides a science-based certification to ensure investments align with the Paris Agreement's 1.5°C climate target:
- Negligible Emissions Profile: To secure CBI certification, geothermal assets must prove that their direct and fugitive emissions are negligible. Our binary cycle and advanced closed-loop design specifically capture and return all subsurface gases back into the reservoir, meeting the CBI's strictest near-zero emissions operating profile.
- Mitigating Induced Risks: CBI geothermal criteria demand strict management of environmental, health, safety, and induced seismicity impacts. With OOS Energy we integrate world-class operational expertise and technical safeguards to monitor, control, and safely mitigate these risks at an industrial scale.
